Netizens calling Superstar K2 contestants John Park and Heo Gak gay?

Controversial issues about the topic of “gays” have recently become a hot topic in the Korean entertainment industry, first with a union of mothers creating an anti-gay compaign against the drama "Life is Beautiful" , followed by a 'Superstar K2 ' contestang fronting up to attacks  against him being gay.
And now, another ‘Superstar K2′ related discussion about gays has surfaced, but this time, people are speculating whether John Park is gay with fellow contestant, Heo Gak. With their infamous man-hugging on the show being a hot topic lately, many have given them the parody nickname of ‘Superstar Gay’.
John Park finally confronted these rumors, saying, “I know about people calling us ‘Superstar Gay’”, and laughed. He went on to explain, “None of it is true, but it’s funny. Hyung (Heo Gak) and me experienced a lot together, especially during ‘Super Week’, when we were both lost, and both won. We are two extremely different people, but we became friends through music.”

Throughout the show’s season, the two were known to give each other deep man-hugs whenever one lost or won a mission, so much to the point where some viewers even named them the ‘Heo-Park line’. For those who are not entirely aware of the Korean culture, although Koreans may not be completely against the concept of hugging, it is a much less frequently used form of friendly interaction, especially on TV, which is why scenes of the two, deeply hugging, became a topic of great interest in the first place.
Heo Gak also verified their non-gay relationship by revealing that he indeed does have a girlfriend. Heo Gak said, “I’m sad that I can’t see my girlfriend right now, but since I know ‘Superstar K2′ will finish at some point, it’s not as difficult on me. She takes care of me the best when we’re together.”
Meanwhile, this week’s episode of ‘Superstar K2′ on October 8th will be broadcasting the performances of the final four contestants.
