SISTAR interview reveals they’re no “Fake Girls”

Fake girls? They’re so down to earth that they resemble male idols.”
‘Fake girls’: they jump out of their seats when they’re surprised during a movie, leave leftovers when they eat, and worry around the clock that they’ll gain tummy fat.
On stage, they’re coyish for sure, but off-stage, they are the most down-to-earth girls you’ll ever meet: they’re SISTAR. Having debuted in June with “Push Push“, are now continuing their activities smoothly with their second single album “Fake Girl“.
After three months, SISTAR doesn’t exactly fit the title of ‘rookie’, as they already released two hit songs and show off a confidence that normally isn’t found in rookies, and making their identity known in the music world.
SISTAR’s title song, “Fake Girl” describes a woman’s feelings of wanting to look prettier in front of the man they love, even if they have to act a little fake. On stage, the girls appeal with a very feminine yet mature and chic style.

Although the girls were rather enthusiastic and chatty about how they “should work harder to be more fake” at the album showcase site, SISTAR seemed to be far from ‘fake’ at the interview. They joked that “We are singing a song about being fake for a man we love. We haven’t had a chance to show this kind of facade until now.”
“Many people told us they sympathize with the lyrics, so we’re trying to sympathize as well. But we don’t understand why we have to be really surprised while watching a movie, or why we have to leave leftovers while eating when we’re not even full. You see, we don’t do that.” (laughs) “We are down to earth, honest, and loud. Just honestly tell us you think you’re looking at a group of male idols.”
The girls look very happy as they chattered from start to finish of the interview. They talk about how they have little time for sleep due to their busy schedule and endless practice, yet they re-energize when they see how well their album is doing that they end up forgetting their feelings of fatigue.
Bora: ”We thought we’d be panicking out of anxiety during the first broadcast, but we enjoyed the stage so much. We love singing on stage. It seems as if all fatigue disappears. On days before music performances, we often wish that tomorrow would hurry up and come already.”
Due to the intriguing lyrics for “Fake Girl”,  SISTAR became a popular search topic on the internet. Along with their comeback stage, netizens’ attentions were drawn to their singing ability – the live performances with the MR removed. With the abundance of idol groups, it is essential that they pass the MR removal test, and even SISTAR could not avoid this requirement. Their skills in performing live were truly appreciated once the MR was removed from their live performance, and they were recognized as a girl group with natural talent.
Despite the fact that they received the ultimate compliment – to be recognized for talent, the girls were still very humble and said that “We do not laze around during practice sessions. Since there are so many girl groups today, we think it is definitely no good if we don’t continue to grow.” Hyorin and Soyu also mentioned how they had so much practice before debut that they needed to have a check up on their vocal chords.
Additionally, although Bora had a finger accident recently by falling on stage, she showed her bandaged hand and laughed that she “still need two more weeks of treatment” and that “it’s okay – Hyorin, who shares the same room as I do, even ties up my hair for me.”
When asked about their recent ‘rapid maturing process’, SISTAR gave a very resolute reply.
“To get first is our closest goal right now, and if we can, we want to get the Rookie of the Year award this year. After we make our name known as a group named SISTAR to many people, we want to join the girl groups who came before us and be work in international fields like them.”
